Buckcherry has been put together, pulled apart and put back together already. This hard rock alt band is characterized by its most mainstream single to date, “Crazy Bitch.” Their sound is strongly influenced by Guns N Roses, but listeners will also recognize the AC/DC influence, as well. There should be a good story punctuating the formation of a great hard rock band and Buckcherry has one. 1995 band founders, Josh Todd and Keith Nelson met through a mutual tattoo artist and the rest is history. Buckcherry added Jonathan Brightman, Devon Glenn and Yogi. The young L.A. rockers could not help but discover a new generation of rock fans hungry for the next great band with a charisma reminiscent of their 80s predecessors. Buckcherry found a strong following in the bar/club scene and eventually were sought out by Dreamworks Records.
The band’s debut album, Buckcherry, was launched in 1999. Attack guitars and Axel Rose style vocals are the outstanding accomplishments of this effort. The album delivered exactly the kind of hard-edged tracks their fans were hoping for. A non-stop touring binge ensued to promote the album and when all was said and done Buckcherry had gathered an even larger following of hard rock apostles. Time Bomb, the eagerly anticipated follow-up album of 2001, was unliked by music critics who reported the effort lacked the same kind of heart-pumping depth charge as their first album. Within the next couple of years the band slowly but surely fell apart. However, in 2005, the original Nelson and Todd again pulled what was left of Buckcherry together, adding new rockers, Stevie D, Xavier Muriel, and Jimmy Ashhurst. The 2006 album, 15, clearly marks the return of a down and dirty, kick-ass rock band.
