Downloadable features may be used on phones configured with @metro software. Customers may log onto their @metro website through their mobile phone and browse for ringtones, wallpapers and games. Ringtones are subcategorized by genre such as Barrio Music, College and Greek Fight Themes, and iNDie Music. Customers interested in "mixing" their individual sounds may download the Mad Mixer application.

MIDI ringtones offer some of the most flexible and unique choices in ringtones. Custom created by solo artists and electronic music gurus, MIDIs allow you to outfit your cadre of ringtones with affordable and unique sounds.

Specialist in Metropolitan Coverage

Metro PCS only arrived on the wireless scene less than a half-dozen years ago. The regional company’s short-term goals included wireless service on a pay as you go basis in large metropolitan areas that might have formerly had no such option. Atlanta, for example has been a regional metropolitan market for the upstart carrier since its inception. Before Metro, no other provider in the Atlanta market offered the pay as you go flexibility, which is more of a lifestyle option than a cellphone plan.

Company Goals

Long-term goals for the company of course, include expansion into further metro markets. Recent additions to service area coverage include Detroit and Orlando. Currently, Metro PCS offers wireless service in about a dozen cities in Northern California, in South and Central Florida, and select metro areas in Georgia, Michigan and Texas.

Metro PCS’s motto is "Talk Freely." Nothing is free, but their Advantage plan offers customers a flat monthly rate of $40 to talk as much as you want. Extra charges apply for long distance outside the continental U.S. and for areas outside of your home coverage area you must be a subscriber to TravelTalk.

Talk Freely Outside Your Area

TravelTalk is a recently added feature to the Metro PCS program. TravelTalk gives customers the flexibility to talk outside their metro area for additional cost. Of course this is only beneficial for individuals who rarely roam, physically or digitally.

Cellphones from Metro PCS include the hottest models from brand name makers Samsung, Motorola, Kyocera, and Nokia. Also customers who already have a cellphone number they’d like to keep may do so with Metro’s hassle free commitment to number portability.
