Songwriter and hard-rock guitarist Jeremy Camp weaves some of the most accessible music in contemporary Christian music circles today. In comparison to more “hard-line” Christian company like Chris Tomlin, Camp walks a blurry line between mainstream and Christian music, where “positive hits” reach audiences tired of the same gloom and doom of mainstream alt-rock. A significant part of Camp’s personal life is revealed in his lyrics. Take his single “I Still Believe” as testament to his faith following the death of his wife from cancer. It is this kind of intimate faith that is winning Camp huge favor.
Camp’s first album, Stay, was only released in 2002 to audiences that went wild for his self-exploration blended with intense modern rock style. Singles off the album “Understand” and “Take My Life” explore the flexibility of this musician’s muscle.
His follow-up album, Restored, is aptly titled and presents fans with songs such as “Restored” and “Lay Down My Pride” suggest Camp’s movement through personal suffering. Sometime during this time, Camp remarried and now has a child. But according to music critics Restored does more than renew Camp’s spirit. His music is ramped up, more akin to its alt-rock roots, perhaps in part due to talented collaboration with music mixers from Green Day and Outkast.
Camp’s most current album, Beyond Measure, was released in 2006. Camp continues to perform outstandingly among the Christian music awards winning nominations and awards in album, song and songwriting categories. Catch the latest at his website.
